A video of a young Donegal man surprising his girlfriend with a romantic puppy surprise has been shared this Valentine’s week.Ciaran Kelly from Termon surprised his girlfriend Niamh Watson with the experience of a lifetime in a Puppy Palace for her 18th birthday. The couple’s story was featured on the Dogs Trust Ireland page on Valentine’s Day, where the charity is convinced that they have found the most romantic man in the country.Ciaran schemed with the charity to shock Niamh on her 18th birthday last December. This surprise had been in development for months beforehand. Dog lover Niamh was in Dublin and dropped into the Dogs Trust Rehoming Centre, where the team were ready to give Niamh special treatment and pretend she was their 100th visitor.Niamh was admiring four energetic Labradors (her favourite breed) puppies in the Puppy Palace when she looked up to find the volunteer in the kennel was actually Ciaran! Ciaran had travelled to Dublin with John McGinley coaches that morning to surprise her with this once in a lifetime experience. The birthday girl teared up with laughter to see Ciaran in the white suit with the black coated pooches. It wasn’t long before she got the chance to get dressed up for a playtime with the puppies herself.Check out Niamh’s reaction video from DogsTrustIrelandOnline here: “The staff took her to the puppy block and then into the puppies. We played with more dogs and then got a tour of the palace and saw all the amazing work that they do up at Dogs Trust. It’s just incredible, they need more volunteers and funds and there’s a huge amount of strays being handed in that they have no room for. It’s a fantastic place,” Ciaran said.Ciaran is full of gratitude to the team at Dogs Trust Ireland for helping him plan the surprise.“The people at Dogs Trust couldn’t have done enough for us, Catherine was amazing. She lives at the Dogs Trust and works on call all day every day. The work she does and the passion she has for dogs is just unbelievable,” Ciaran said. The staff were happy to host the Donegal group, take photos and record the experience. They kindly dropped them off at their bus stop at the end of the day.Ciara McGowan, Communications Officer for the charity told Donegal Woman how the whole event was a special moment for everyone involved. “It was so adorable. Ciaran contacted us through Facebook and had clearly done his research and we were happy to arrange everything with him. It’s not something we can generally accommodate because we have very limited staff numbers but this was a very special request. We love watching back on the video now,” Ciara said. Dogs Trust is Ireland’s largest dog welfare charity. The Rehoming Centre in Dublin has to date rescued and rehomed over 6,000 dogs and puppies to their forever homes. The special Puppy Wings allow the charity to rescue an additional 500 puppies each year, along with their mothers. At any given time there are 150-200 dogs looking for homes.DDTV: Couple’s romantic ‘tail’ is true puppy love was last modified: February 16th, 2017 by Rachel McLaughlinShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)Tags:DDTVdogs trust irelandlovepuppySurprise

LOS ANGELES, CA – DECEMBER 03: head coach John Calipari of the Kentucky Wildcats reacts to a foul against his team during the first half against the UCLA Bruins at Pauley Pavilion on December 3, 2015 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by Harry How/Getty Images)Kentucky pulled out a big win at LSU tonight to push its record to 24-0, but if you believe John Calipari, there were times tonight when he would have welcomed 23-1. Karl-Anthony Towns’ was called for a technical for hanging on the rim midway through the second half, which led to this amazing post-game moment on ESPN. As much fun as that videobomb is, Calipari was livid about the foul, at that point in the game. In the interview he said that he told the team that he hoped they would lose after the foul, and reiterated that point to open his post-game press conference. Calipari goes on to praise his talented freshman as a player and a person, but clearly this mistake, which could have proven incredibly costly in what wound up being a two point game, really bothered him.Kentucky hosts South Carolina this Saturday at 2 p.m.
Rutgers is in control of its season opener today, leading FCS Norfolk State 42-13 in the third quarter in Piscataway. It’s been a rough week for the Scarlet Knights, with five players arrested and later dismissed, and four more players suspended for the first half of today’s game. One of the players punished for the first half was quarterback Chris Laviano, who spent the entire off-season in a battle for the starting job with LSU transfer Hayden Rettig. Laviano’s suspension, for breaking curfew and using a fake ID, made Rutgers head coach Kyle Flood’s decision easy, as Rettig started this afternoon and played well in the first half. He completed 9-of-11 passes for 110 yards and a touchdown and rushed for another score. Somewhat surprisingly, Flood elected to begin the second half with Laviano under center. It’s a choice that seems to indicate Laviano originally won the competition and Rettig only started because of circumstance. Or maybe Flood just wanted give both guys a shot. Whatever the reasoning, former Rutgers quarterback Ryan Hart was not happy with the move. Twitter/ @RyanHart13Hart played for the Scarlet Knights from 2002-05. During his senior season, Flood was an assistant under Greg Schiano. He subsequently tweeted that he still supported the embattled coach despite the decision, but he clearly did not approve of it.For what it’s worth, Laviano has connected with wide receiver Leonte Carroo for a pair of third-quarter touchdowns. Looks like there could be a QB controversy in New Jersey.
Some 6,000 residents of Cascade, White Sands and Bohemia, in the parish of St. Ann, have been provided with potable water, piped into their homes. On February 14, Minister of Water, Land, Environment and Climate Change, Hon. Robert Pickersgill, commissioned into service the water supply system at Cascade, built at a cost of approximately $45 million. In his address at the ceremony, the Minister urged the residents to play their part in protecting the infrastructure, and to pay their bills, so that the system can be properly maintained. He pointed out that $15 billion is currently owed to the National Water Commission (NWC) in outstanding bills, a situation “which cannot be allowed to continue.”“We have done our part in providing you with this water, and now you must play your part to ensure that you continue to receive the water you need on a daily basis. I urge you to give the operators of the system your fullest co-operation, pay your bills, so that the system can be maintained and you can get water for years to come,” he told the residents.Mr. Pickersgill also implored them to protect the water source (Cascade River), by keeping it free from garbage and pollution.Meanwhile, Chairman of the Board for Rural Water Supply Limited, John-Paul White, said since 2004, the number of households receiving potable water has increased from 45 per cent to 50 per cent.He added that for fiscal year 2012/13, some $270 million is expected to be spent by the organisation to upgrade rural water supply systems, which will directly benefit approximately 43,000 residents.
