Bucksport softball team improves to 8-1

first_img Bio BUCKSPORT — The Bucksport softball team won three games this week to improve its record to 8-1.The Golden Bucks remain at the top of the Class C standings, with Mattanawcook Academy (6-0) trailing in second.Bucksport beat George Stevens Academy on Wednesday, Washington Academy on Friday and Central on Monday.On Monday, Bucksport’s Samantha Goode allowed just five hits, struck out 12 and didn’t walk a batter to lead the Golden Bucks to a 4-2 home win over Central (4-4).This is placeholder textThis is placeholder textGoode also contributed a double, a single and an RBI while Emily Hunt chipped in with two singles.On Friday, Goode allowed just two hits, didn’t walk a batter and struck out 12 to lead the Golden Bucks to a 12-1 home win over WA (2-5).Madysen Robichaud contributed two triples, two singles and four RBIs for the Golden Bucks while Goode chipped in with a double, single and two RBIs.On Wednesday, Goode pitched a five-inning no-hitter, striking out eight and walking one to spark the Golden Bucks to a 17-0 home victory over GSA (4-5).Tyler Dupont singled three times and drove in three runs for Bucksport, while Julia Zavalza and Madysen Robichaud each plated three runs with a double and a triple.Adreanna Simmons and Olivia Stevenson were the pitchers for GSA.Ellsworth 12, John Bapst 0Callie Hammer went 3-for-4 with two singles, a double and two runs scored to help Ellsworth (2-5) win at John Bapst (3-6) on Tuesday.Leah Stevens chipped in with two singles and three runs while Courtney Wasson added two singles and two runs for Ellsworth. Caitlin Bean earned the shutout win, giving up just four hits.Carley Scanlon, Gina Cambria, Kayla Massey and Haley Hughes all had singles for John Bapst.Hermon 3, MDI 2On Tuesday at Hermon (4-2), Kylie Kennedy had a sacrifice fly to drive in Hermon’s first run in the sixth inning, erasing a 2-0 deficit.Deanna Phipps then hit a two-RBI single to drive in the tying and winning runs in bottom of the sixth for the win.For Mount Desert Island (5-6), Darcy Kanu doubled while Avalon Kerley, Casidy Parady and Katie Guarino each added a single.Mattanawcook 12, Sumner 0Courtney McIntyre pitched a five-inning two-hitter with seven strikeouts and two walks to lead Mattanawcook (6-0) to a home win over Sumner (3-2) on Monday.Kiandra Barnes doubled for Sumner.GSA 12, DI-S 9On Monday, Olivia Stevenson turned in a 3-for-3 effort with three singles and four RBIs to guide GSA to a home win over Deer Isle-Stonington (0-4) on Monday.Katrina Limeburner chipped in with a single and a double for GSA, and Emma Weed added two singles.Jessalyn Gove sparked DI-S with three singles while Ally Eaton added a single, a double and two RBIs. Morgan Shepard contributed a triple, a single and two RBIs.Dexter 17, GSA 11On Saturday, Dexter’s Morgan Gray tripled, had two singles and two RBIs to lead Dexter (4-3) to a win at GSA.Katrina Limeburner led GSA with two triples, a home run and three RBIs. Olivia Stevenson had two doubles and an RBI while Sarah Mullen had two RBIs.MDI 11, Caribou 7 and MDI 27, Caribou 2 (doubleheader)MDI scored four runs in the seventh inning to earn the win at Caribou (3-5) in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday.Aubrie Boyce’s three singles led MDI. Madison Thornton, Darcy Kanu, Molly Carroll, Cassidy Parady, Kati Guarino and Haley Littlefield each added two hits.In the second game of the doubleheader, MDI scored 23 runs on 18 hits in the sixth inning to roll to the win.MDI pitchers Haley Littlefield and Madison Thornton combined on the win, collecting seven strikeouts in six innings.Foxcroft 12, Ellsworth 11Ellsworth lost at home on Friday to Foxcroft (6-2).Old Town 6, Ellsworth 2Caitlyn King pitched a complete game, striking out eight and allowing only four hits, to lead Old Town (9-0) to a win over Ellsworth on Thursday.Chelsea Bean had a double for Ellsworth.MDI 9, John Bapst 0Haley Littlefield tossed a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts and three walks to lead MDI to a home win over John Bapst on Wednesday.Avalon Kerley tripled and singled and drove in two runs for MDI. Cassidy Parady tripled and knocked in a pair. Littlefield also contributed a single and an RBI.Searsport 11, DI-S 1Melinda Ogden and Audrey Walker both tripled, singled and had three RBIs apiece to lead Searsport (4-1) to a home win over DI-S on Wednesday.For DI-S, Morgan Shepard singled and scored a run.
